Lovekyn Chapel Wedding Photography – Katie and Jonny

From the hottest day of the year to one of the wettest afternoons of the summer, I was back for some Lovekyn Chapel wedding photography in Kingston Upon Thames for Katie and Jonny.  No bridal preps were required so I started at the chapel and once the small matter of the marriage was done and dusted, everyone (bar me, of course) was enjoying some champagne in the sun in the courtyard at the back while the guests were treated to some songs by the Acoustic Air duo.  Then, just as we (the immediate wedding party and myself) made our way to the Thames for a relatively short boat journey to the reception at the Tamesis Sailing Club in nearby Teddington, the dark clouds started to loom…

The idea was to stop off somewhere along the way for a few photos, which we duly did.  However, no sooner were we ashore than the heavens opened.  Literally.  A mad dash to a nearby bandstand for some shelter gave us a bit of relief from the downpour, until the realisation kicked in some twenty minutes later that we had to get back to the wedding venue.  So, with the rain even heavier by this time, we had no option but to run the two hundred yards or so back to the boat.  Completely soaked and with steamed up lenses (but thankful all the same for weather proofed equipment!), we were back on the boat for all of thirty seconds before the rain stopped and the sun came out.  Typical!

So back to the sailing club for for the rest of the day, it soon rained heavily again but stopped during the meal when Katie and Jonny were more than happy to step outside to grab a few shots by the river.  Then after the speeches and cake cutting the guests were treated to some ice cream from the Matt Benecci ice cream bike, courtesy of and then it was onto the evening festivities as the band did their thing.

A fun day, despite the soaking.  Below are some images from the day, as usual feel free to click the ‘like’ button or leave a comment, and don’t forget you can also join me over on my Facebook page.

Hi David, we loved playing in the chapel during the ceremony and in the courtyard afterwards. Your pictures captured a very beautiful day and I’m glad that were able to contribute in our small way to Katie and Jonny’s special day. Mike and Suzie (Acoustic Air).

I’ve now added a link to you guys on the blog post, I forgot to get your details on the day.

Acoustic Air - 14 Sep ’12 - 09:16

Cheers Dave. Suzie has passed your details to a friend who is getting married and needs a photographer.

To David thanks for all your hard work on the day. The photos were marvellous and captured the day naturally. Excellent.
