Botleys Mansion weddings have always been a fantastic occasion for me and this one was no different. Where do I start with this wedding? It had everything. Forgetting the bride and groom for just one moment, we had a McLaren MP4-12C (so my car enthusiast friends reliably inform me…), we had singing waiters, we had one of the best best man speeches I’ve ever heard, we had a superb’ Hangover’ style slideshow and we had fireworks. And on top of that we had a fantastic bride and groom.
So going back to the beginning. It was back at the beginning of last year that I was booked for this wedding and having shot a wedding there a month after that, I’ve been eager to go back ever since as it really is a great venue.
The day was due to start with the bridal preparations but I got there just in time to see Anthony arrive in the McLaren. Then it was upstairs to the girls who were getting ready, the preps were nice and relaxed and before we knew it the time had come for the wedding ceremony. Afterwards, the heavens opened and we had torrential rain for about twenty minutes before the blue skies that had been slowly heading in our direction finally covered the venue, allowing everyone to head outside to soak up some sunshine before the meal.
Once the main course had been devoured and desserts had been brought out, it was over to the Bravo! Singing Waiters to take centre stage and entertain everyone with some superb opera music which raised the roof. No sooner had this finished, the guests were then treated to some great speeches and as I referred to earlier, one of the funniest best man speeches I’ve listened to. Then after the cake cutting it was back outside where the likes of croquet and Jenga were being played, before the band kicked in and we had the first dance. To end the day off in style, we then had fireworks.
I was shattered by the end of the day but had thoroughly enjoyed every moment, as weddings go they really don’t come much better than this and I honestly feel lucky that I was able to be a part of it.
