Wet! Not just wet but quite easily the wettest wedding by far that I’ve ever covered. I’ve had some rainy days on the job before but here it literally started raining from the moment I stepped out of the car and didn’t stop for another nine hours or so. Not that it dampened the spirits of Ros and Mark when I carried out their Monkey Island wedding photography earlier this summer.
The day started with Ros at the venue as she was getting ready with her bridal party, where everything was calm and in good spirits despite the increasing rain outside. With everything all being at the same venue, it meant just a very short walk from the hotel over to the main building where everything was going to happen throughout the day. Mark had arrived in good time and before long it was time for Ros to make her way over, flanked by an entourage with umbrellas, for the main business of the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony itself went as smoothly as you would hope for and then it was time to retreat to the safety of the warm bar area for drinks and canapés. A receiving line preceded the meal and then it was time for the speeches. A short break in proceedings saw a bit of dry weather at last and then it was time for the cutting of the cake.
As you may guess from the pictures, the groom loves his cricket and just before the first dance there was a surprise for him in the form of an excellently put together video which featured personal messages from some of the Sky Sports team and former England cricketers, which went down a storm. Then it was onto the first dance which was followed by some superb Jewish dancing and the Hora. A great way to end an extremely enjoyable day.
The rain came down again as I went home but by that time the party was in full swing. Here’s some images from throughout the day.
“The pictures look fantastic – Thank you!”
