Wedding Photography in Surrey – Jennie and Andy at Heathervale Baptist Church in New Haw and Pizza Express, Guildford

You’d have been forgiven for thinking you were in the cinema as Jennie walked down the aisle to the music from Pirates of the Caribbean, but the reality was we were about to witness her wedding to Andy at the Heathervale Baptist Church in New Haw, Surrey, and I was lucky enough to have a front row seat in the packed church as their wedding photographer.

The day started at Jennie’s parent’s house, where the younger members of the wedding party had their full attention on the rugby. I got there bang on time according to the list Jennie had compiled, the photographer was to arrive at 11am and 11am I arrived…. However, the bride to be was herself thirty minutes behind her own schedule by the time she got back from the hairdressers, but despite this it was an atmosphere of complete calm and laughter as the preparations began with the help of Carol Jux who was the make up artist for the day. I’m not sure that Jennie managed her scheduled 11:55 toilet break, but thankfully it didn’t disrupt proceedings too much! Luckily the church was only two minutes from the house, so once the dress went on I made the very short journey there to find it almost full some twenty minutes before the ceremony was due to start. Andy told me that the nerves he’d had earlier in the day had gone, but it looked like they came back as the bride was ready to come down the aisle. Before long, they were man and wife, assisted well by Andy’s father who conducted the service, and we were soon heading off to Guildford under a mixture of dark grey and bright blue skies.

The reception was being held at Pizza Express, which consisted of, er, lots of pizza (funnily enough). Speeches followed, where Andy showed off his quick wit following his new father in law’s equally amusing speech. Then there was an excellent one by one of Andy’s ‘best people’ (Is there an official term for a female best man?), complete with slideshow which had the audience in stitches. Then my wedding was complete with the first dance. I was exhausted by the end of it all but really enjoyed the day. The new Mr & Mrs Butler go off on their honeymoon today, here’s a rundown of their big day with a few pictures.
