Two weddings in two days this past weekend, the second of which saw me make an early morning drive down the M3 to Southampton and Netley Abbey as the wedding photographer for Lisa and Alex. This was pretty much as informal and as laid back a wedding as you can get and after pretty much a month of pure rain, we had the second consecutive day of sunshine to help us out. Lisa was looking for a more documentary and candid approach to the photography so I was able to sit back and do what I do without any fuss.
I started off with the bridal preps before we set out to The Church of St. Edward the Confessor and once the ceremony was over, the bride and groom led the wedding party on a walk down to Bradgate Manor for the reception, where we were met by the excellent strolling musicians Cafe du Monde who then led the party up the drive to the Manor. The walk from the house to church and then on to the reception was a total of about five minutes so it was nice to take a stroll in the sun for a change.
The marquee was set up perfectly and after the meals the speeches were carried out without a hitch and then it was onto the evening fun. No traditional first dance here, everyone was invited to join the bride and groom as the
