As regular followers of my blog will know, I love getting the opportunity to get out and about on the streets to use the camera for personal use, and there’s no better chance to do that each year than for Chinese New Year. 2012 is the Year of the Dragon and as per last year, I made the trip into London’s Chinatown to join in the celebrations.
I was hoping to break out the new Fuji X10 I’d acquired a few days before but unfortunately my SD cards didn’t arrive in time so I was left with the D700 instead. After spending three days in New York with the 35mm a couple of months ago I decided to give the 50mm f/1.4 an outing instead, a tried and trusted lens ideal for street photography.
The whole of Chinatown was bursting at the seams and there was a fantastic atmosphere. After a few hours I decided to take a stroll to nearby Covent Garden for a few more shots before calling time on proceedings. A thoroughly enjoyable outing and one that gave me the rare chance to process everything in black and white.
The wedding fun starts again soon, but until then here’s a few from Sunday.
